AMS Cargo was pleased to load m/v Andesborg on the first sailing of a new direct liner service from North West Europe to East Africa.
Our team loaded two 35m long cooling towers on deck and associated project cargo below.
The sailing of the m/v Andesborg is the beginning of a new direct liner service by Universal Africa Lines (UAL), connecting North West Europe to the emerging oil and gas “hot spot” around Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya.
Iain Cackette, Cargo Manager of AMS Global Group, said “We are very glad to have completed the final consignment for a full cargo on board the m/v Andesborg for the maiden voyage of the new East Africa Liner service.
“With two tandem lifts and some windy conditions, it wasn’t a straightforward operation, but with our surveyor in attendance the cargo was loaded and secured for the sea passage to Kenya without incident.
“Having worked alongside UAL throughout the years in Aberdeen, we know their West African Liner service well and we wish UAL the best of luck with their new service.”
Harald Maas, Director of UAL Netherlands, said:
“We are very excited about this new service… Within the same year of starting our new Mediterranean service to West Africa, which has proven to be very successful from the start, we are now entering the market of East Africa.
“East Africa is the new Oil and Gas hotspot, and we are confident that we can bring our same proven service to this emerging market. We will be serving the same clientele which have been serving so proudly in West Africa, and we feel this has great potential and the time is now. Even in the current difficult business climate we have proven our ability to deliver which we will continue to do so.”
The next outboard East African vessel is the UAL Fortitude (or sub) in early December from Moerdijk, Netherlands.
